Gaming

As a company with a fair share of young adults, many whom have grown up with gaming, many of us still camp a-site with the AWM. Our e-sports team is rocking their league in CS:GO, but there are several other gamers who have a different taste in FPS and games all together.

FIFA is always popular among our LAN attendees, as well as Call of Duty Warzone, Overwatch, Rocket League, and racing games. We have our own discord server to connect colleagues and coordinate sick plays too!

The lights are out, and we're racing!

Formula 1 has had a strong increase in popularity the past year, especially after Netflix' success series "Drive to Survive", and several people at Brilliant have caught on to spending Sundays watching the pinnacle of motor racing.

We occasionally meet out to watch the races too, so if you're into it, you're welcome to join too! Ask around internally who can grant you access to our F1 Fantasy League. If we're lucky we'll have a play seat / sim rig up and running in the gaming room soon too!

Frisbee golf

Frisbee golf combines the skill of throwing a frisbee with the concept of golf, where your goal is to tee off and land the frisbee in the goal with as few throws as possible. The player with the least throws throughout the course wins.

Brilliant has a group of casual frisbee golf players who meet up to play around Trondheim's many frisbee golf courses. Judging from the Brilliant snapchat group, it doesn't matter if its rain or shine, or even a tiny bit of snow. Bad weather just means you've got the place for yourself!

Soccer

If you're the type that gets goosebumps from the champions league hymn, you're certain to make good friends in all corners of Brilliant. You'll find supporters of current and past greats, as well as lovers and haters of VAR, which tends to shift dramatically depending on which team the decisions favor.

We're good at heading out to sports pubs to watch the big games, which we typically announce a day in advance in Brilliant's social channel on teams.

Apart from eagerly following our favorite teams, we also occasionally pull together the eight players needed for a round of cage ball. Perhaps we'll eventually be able to sport a full team for weekly sessions?

Hitting the gym

Good fitness has a lot of health benefits, and it increases your general wellbeing as well. Brilliant covers your gym membership regardless of which gym, and we have a group of people who help each other stay disciplined and motivated by hitting the gym together.

So, if you're looking for advice on your new training program, which pre-workout won't alter your DNA, or you need someone to spot your PB attempts, we have colleagues to ask and tag along with!

Reading

If you're a book worm, you'll certainly find topics of conversations with others at Brilliant. (To you millennials: Books are like digital documents, but printed and folded and require no battery or Wi-Fi to consume.)

We have readers of both fiction and non-fiction, and your colleagues are open to recommendations as well as suggesting new reads for you too! We're also the friendly kind that lets other borrow our favorite books, so shout out if you're looking for anything special!

Wine

Brilliant has its own in-house wine club which is run voluntarily by some of our wine enthusiasts. Here we have various activities such as wine tasting and share various grape experiences with each other.

Your colleague's knowledge can be categorized into four different segments:

1. It's red / white?

2. This must be from France?

3. What a lovely Cote du Rhone!

4. OMG This totally must be of that grape from that certain year I can literally taste the footprint of the farmer who walked upon that field, it was a very hot and humid season for that valley!

Ask around for recommendations, and you'll be pointed in the right direction, and eventually find the bottle that suits your taste, event, and budget!

Ski & snowboard

Downhill pro or average jerry? Either way you'll have colleagues willing to join you in the slopes or off-piste for some bluebird action.

Popular ski destinations such as Oppdal and Åre are a two-hour drive from the office. Meråker tends to have great powder conditions a mere hour away, and our local hill Vassfjellet is upping their game now with chairlifts and dedicated off-piste areas. Ask who's up for some fun in our social channel, and get the carpooling and big jumps going!

Family fun

Our annual LAN gathers all gamers of Brilliant to a weekend filled with games, pizza, and other snacks. The event is also open for family members of Brilliant, where we set up games and activities for the younger ones as well!

We've previously hosted a children's learning session on programming, "Teach the kids how to code". Here, Brilliant family members got to try their hand at developing via gamification - using a simple browser game to input a sequence of instructions to navigate a hero through obstacles - much like their parents are heroes writing code to navigate customers through digitalization!

We also host Mario cart time trials, FIFA tournaments and other games, along with plenty of candy and snacks!

Running

Once a company reaches a certain size, there's bound to be a small crazy fraction of employees who love running, rain or shine, summer, or winter. If you guess Brilliant has surpassed that critical mass, you are correct. If you're guessing we also have a Strava-group to follow each others efforts, pace and routes, you are also correct!

Brilliant has attended the Tordenskoild race (10km), Stoltzkleiven (hill climb in Bergen) as well as the Trondheim Marathon. Keep an eye open for race opportunities on Teams!

Chess

Brilliant likes being several steps ahead of our competition, and if you're into strategic planning and see life as black and white squares, we have an own corner of the office for your kind.

Chess has become a very popular spot the past years, and at Brilliant we have a competition grade chess set along with timers and all - so you can challenge colleagues to see whom can outwit whom!
